I wanted to capture the sense of excitement and spaciousness I felt visiting the Suffolk coast. Energy is the potential for change and the union of passion and spaciousness can release energy. Inspired by this theme Frances Shelley and I intuitively and spontaneously created a dialogue that recaptured the memories of Shingle Street beach. Frances playing her haunting and beautiful music while I painted under a new moon with the seaweed and sea cabbage scavenged from the beach. Later we added the wave sounds recorded by the sea and Frances composed new music in response to the film of the painting evolving, to create a multi layered and evocative work.
